Our story started when two people from two different countries met in the UK. One from Indonesia and the other Hungary, we saw each other in person for the first time in Waterloo tea shop in Cardiff in 2019.
We have been enriching each other’s life since, passing adult milestones and sailing through a global pandemic together. We even adopted two feline family members, Suri and Millie!
After getting engaged in Bali, Indonesia in April 2022, we decided to also tie the knot in the beautiful island. We would like to invite you, our beloved family and friends, to celebrate
the joyful day with us.

JOURNEY
Travel
Plane
Planes to Bali are regular and serviced by various airlines from around the world.
Plane
From the UK, the cheapest flights are from London. Most routes will require 1-3 transfers, and on average take around 19-22 hours. We find the most reliable airlines are: Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, and Emirates. Most affordable are Malaysia Airlines and Turkish Airlines.
There are 3 different time zones in Indonesia. Bali uses WITA or Central Indonesian Time (GMT+8). In the summer, Bali is 7 hours ahead than the UK, and in winter it is 8 hours ahead.
We suggest to check your arrival and departure time as the journey often takes +1 day due to time difference.
Getting Around in Bali
What’s on in Bali & how to get there
Getting Around in Bali
Looking for activities and places to do in Bali? Here are some personal recommendations:
Best beach for relaxing / swimming: Nusa Dua
Best beach for sunset: Seminyak, Jimbaran
Best areas for shopping & eating: Canggu, Seminyak
Best temple for sunset: Tanah Lot
Best for experiencing art & nature: Ubud
Best for watching dolphins: Lovina
Best for cliff-edge beach clubs and sea views: Uluwatu
Best diving spot: Menjangan Island
Bride & Groom's favourite area: Ubud
...and many more!
Public transportation is available in the form of bus taxi, and Uber-like transportation (Gojek and Grab). Gojek and Grab are very affordable and easy to use, we recommend that you install the phone applications.
Renting out a car, motorcycle or moped is also popular. Indonesians drive on the left side of the road, the same as in the UK.
Please be aware that the traffic in Bali can be unpredictable and if you are inexperienced in driving in Asia, we recommend that you hire a driver who can also act as a tour guide.
Food
From street food to award-winning, food in Bali has a lot to offer.
Food
As Hindu is the main religion in Bali, traditional Balinese food is often not halal, and most times has a bit of a spicy kick!
Locals' favourite, we recommend trying babi guling, or suckling pig. The most famous spot is Warung Bu Oka in Ubud.
Also must-try local cuisines are Nasi Campur (mixed rice), Sate Babi (pork satay), and Bebek Bengil (crispy duck).
Bali also has Western, Chinese, and Japanese cuisines that are widely available. Click here for the list of award-winning restaurants in Bali.
Currency
Bali uses Rupiah, the Indonesian currency.
Currency
Bali uses Rupiah (Rp). Sometimes it is written as IDR (Indonesian Rupiah).
Don't be alarmed seeing many zeroes as we have a big currency! For example,
a bottle of water in Bali might cost Rp 2,000 (two thousand rupiah) - this is around 10 pence in the UK.
£1 is around Rp 18,000 - 20,000.
Weather
Indonesia is a tropical country.
Weather
Indonesia is a tropical country, with wet and dry season. In July, you can expect a temperature around 27 degree Celcius, and a dry and sunny weather.
Please make sure to always stay hydrated and pack plenty of sunscreen. The sun rises around 6am and sets around 6pm all year.
SIM Card
To buy a SIM card for your phone.
SIM Card
To buy a SIM card for your phone, you will need to have your passport or other kinds of identification ready. You also have to register your identity to the card provider, which is not a very easy process. This is due to identity fraud cases and scams. You can ask the seller to help you register.
We recommend using XL Axiata or Indosat Ooredoo (Matrix, Mentari, and Im3). Please note that after buying the card, you have to top it up with credits, and using *123# dial, you should buy a package (call credit, message, roaming data / 4G). Without buying a package, you might use up your credit very quickly. There is also a monthly contract version, we do not recommend choosing it unless you are staying in Indonesia for a long time.
Wi-fi is widely available in almost all public places in Bali.
Frequently Asked Questions
As we have a guest list database, the name that you enter must exactly match the one in our database. This is also the name we use in the Whatsapp message / digital invitation link in bold so you will be able to just copy paste. Alternatively, you can input your full name (first name + surname) instead of any nicknames (e.g Gergo Szarszo instead of Geri Szarszo). Middle name, if any, should go after your first name. Unfortunately, the RSVP does not currently support non-English characters.
Any partner, family member, and plus one who are invited will also be automatically shown together with your name. If you would like to have more plus one(s) than what is listed on the RSVP, please kindly let us know first.
Please also specify everyone's meal preference and whether there are any food restrictions or allergies in the RSVP.
Any trouble please drop us a Whatsapp, email or call!
We kindly request that guests put away cell phones, cameras, and any other devices in order for them to be present in the moment, especially for the Blessing Ceremony. Don't worry, we have hired photographers and videographers to make sure we can all look back to the day!
Please refer to your invitation, in which we have specified the names of the people invited and/or any plus one. If you would like to have plus one(s), please kindly let us know.
Please do not bring any pets to the wedding. If you require a certified assistance dog to accompany you, please inform the wedding organizer Elrio at +62 821 8894 3210 (Whatsapp chat only).
Unfortunately we will not be taking song requests on the day. But if you have a song or two in mind, please let us know in the RSVP 🙂
Please get in touch with our sales manager, Pipien Setyabudi at info@balitropic-resort.com for information regarding the hotel accessibility.
Extra Note
While Bali is generally safe for tourists, and the Balinese are very friendly, please be aware of pickpockets.
Haggling is an art! If you cannot find a price tag, chances are the goods are negotiable in price. If you have any emergency, please call 112, or 118 for ambulance. We hope your travel in Bali is safe and enjoyable 🙂
We hope to see you in Bali soon!
With Love,
Gergő & Levina
